Sandwiched!!

Greetings!!


This is in reference to a Dawn news report headed, "US to hold back $800 million in aid to Pakistan"

The reason behind this decision of the United States is Pakistan's expulsion of US trainers from Pakistani lands and the unsatisfactory military regime against the militants in their view. Pakistani army is engaged across the Durand Line in combat against the Afghans and the Talibans according to the US will. A large portion of these expenditures are supported by the US since this war is basically theirs.


Now, US has decided to withdraw its support in the form of a cut down of more than a third of the total US funding because Pakistan seems to be taking control of its own affairs - FINALLY!! The news report explicitly mentions the US is "UNHAPPY" with Pakistan's developments of self-interest.

I believe we have been sandwiched pretty badly in war this time. The war we are engaged in is not ours. The upset Talibans resort to terrorist activities in the premises of Pakistan to express their anger. The civilians who lose their lives to this worthless cause are innocent and totally unrelated to this war of pure confusion. Additionally, US has also withdrawn part of its support - this means Pakistan is on its own fighting other's fight. What is more is this withdrawal will weaken the Pakistani forces standing in the line of fire - hence weakening Pakistan's solidarity! In this mess, Pakistan has nothing to gain but everything to lose like the peace it has already lost. US has proved to be a back-stabber hypocrite here! I believe we should let the two actively involved parties fight and step out of it. This is also the voice of the millions of Pakistani hearts that bleed due to this insanity and loss of their loved ones. I hope some action is taken in this regard soon.
