Going Green (2)

Greetings!!

With the increase in concerns regarding environmental pollution, efforts have also been made to develop and use "green" energy sources. The two energy sources popular in this regard are windmills and solar energy systems. These rely totally on natural "unlimited" resources - the wind and sunlight respectively - and convert this abundant energy into electrical energy for an individual's customized usage - be it industrial, domestic or commercial. The exhaust products of these resources is pure benefit with negligible or no effect to the environment.

Here in Pakistan, with the famous "load shedding" of electricity by the electricity providing companies and the obnoxious cost of maintaining a generator, solar energy systems have recently become popular. Located in the tropical region, Pakistan has no shortage of sunlight, and many individuals are now rightly capitalizing on it. It is worth mentioning that an entire residential project has been developed specially offering a non-stop electrical supply by installing solar energy systems in their project. I have also witnessed these systems installed in a number of other places including a police check post on super highway. It is appreciable that Pakistanis are now resorting to these energy-efficient and cost-effective energy sources for catering to their electricity needs - even though their motives behind these actions is not "going green". Progress is an achievement even if it is minute.

Peace.
