Greetings!!
This is in reference to a CNN news stating "Google to retire Blogger and Picasa brands"

Shocked at the sight of this news, a quick skimming eradicated my concerns. Google intends to rename these brands with its own names. Popular as they are, Google intends to affiliate its name with these websites in preparation for the massive launch of Google+, the tough competitor of Facebook. Blogger would be known as "Google Blogs" and Picasa would be renamed "Google Photos". What's in the name? Until and unless they plan to bring a change in the website, I believe Google Blogs will remain just as popular as the current Blogger. The news also states the renaming will occur after 6 weeks duration.
I believe its bad time for Facebook just as it was the bad time for Orkut when Facebook came into being. Google, mighty as it is, is regrouping even more strength to outwit Facebook. Even though Facebook is not lagging in the race for being the best social networking website, it seems Facebook lacks the resources Google is blessed with. Only time will unroll what is in store for both Facebook and Google+. All I know is, only the very best will survive.
Peace.
