Indo-Pak War 1971

The third war fought between the two countries is more popularly known as the Civil War of 1971. The result of this war proved to be truly drastic for Pakistan because it lost its Eastern Wing to the Indian conspiracies of annihilating Pakistan and emerging once again as the sub-continent.

The history of this War dates back to the partition. Pakistan (both Eastern and Western Wings) was going through a phase of political instability and pressing issues regarding how the two wings were to be governed as a single country. West Pakistan faced immense difficulties in involving the Eastern Wing in its democratic government. The resulting shortcoming of Pakistan as two regions and one country was capitalized upon by India in the form of its attempt to disintegrate the two regions and amalgamate the Eastern half with itself (which it did not achieve).

During the reign of Yahya Khan in March, 1971, West Pakistan Army had infiltrated into Eastern Pakistan to establish peace in the region – which it readily achieved. But the ill-hearted Indian soldiers, capitalizing on the fact that Pakistan army was fighting on foreign and hence unfavorable lands, launched attacks in several areas of Eastern Pakistan. The valiant Pakistan Army fought successfully and eradicated the lands of foreign invasion. Defeated in the face, India, in order to prevent its image from crashing, simultaneously launched attacks in West Pakistan in vain attempts to regain the divided lands. However, in both Wings, India was faced with nothing but shameful defeat! The War continued till the December of 1971. Just as Pakistan was preparing counter strike in the Indian lands, the Indian officials again approached the United Nations begging for ceasefire. This time, however, six resolutions were rejected before the ceasefire was officially declared.

This war, however, was not entirely in favor of Pakistan as it lost its Eastern Wing which was later declared as the Sovereign State of Bangladesh in 1971. India has still not learnt its lessons, and continues to meddle with Pakistan trying to engage into combat.
