Greetings,
The news I have been following since a few weeks has now rightfully erupted in protests. The following link explains exactly what I am referring to:
http://www.dawn.com/2011/07/04/protests-in-pakistan-over-us-gay-rights-event.html
I have also followed this news and people's views on Express Tribune. Attempts are being made to legalize GLBT (Gay Lesbian Bisexual and Transgender) rights here in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. What can be more shameful than the reality that a vast majority of Pakistanis are in the favor of this legalization. Though some conscience-driven sane people still stand in strict criticism of this act, many ultra-modren A.K.A. western masses here think it viable for Pakistan to adopt such policies which safeguard the rights of GLBTs in a state which has failed to provide safeguard to a normal average person..! In a state where the rights of women are still non-existent in many areas of Pakistan (especially the rural areas), where the rights of every human being to live freely is violated every now and then and child labor is not very uncommon, introducing entirely novel rights of GLBTs can prove no less than a national and spiritual disaster for Pakistan. In my view, this is another US trick to damage Pakistan's unity and solidarity by targeting another spiritual weakness on our behalf.
May Allah Bless Us All.
Peace.
